JBS dropped its 2040 economy-wide net-zero and deforestation pledges, replacing them with a narrower goal to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity 30% by 2030 that excludes Scope 3 emissions, which made up 97% of the company's 191 million tonnes of CO2e emitted in 2025, up 22% from 2023. Mighty Earth's Gemma Hoskins said the reversal would not diminish scrutiny of JBS's climate and deforestation record.
