Oregon's animal cruelty ballot fight
The Yes on IP28 campaign is pushing a ballot measure that would strip hunting, fishing and animal-agriculture exemptions from Oregon's animal cruelty law, barring the intentional injury, killing or forced impregnation of animals on farms, in labs, at exhibitions and in the wild. After signature drives in 2022 and 2024 fell far short, the 2026 push has topped 140,000 signatures, testing whether Oregon voters will end exemptions those industries have relied on for decades.
