Evanna Lynch was born on August 16, 1991, in Termonfeckin, County Louth, Ireland. As a child she was repelled by raw meat and became a vegetarian at age 11, years before anyone offered her the role of Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films. In 2015, already a working actress, she went further and turned vegan for ethical reasons. She built on that choice rather than treating it as a private lifestyle change: in November 2017 she founded the podcast The ChickPeeps to talk with activists about animal rights, and a year later she co-founded the Kinder Beauty Box with actress Daniella Monet, a cruelty-free subscription box meant to make ethical shopping less confusing.
